Former Republican Michigan Rep. Mike Rogers slammed Democratic policies on electric vehicles and energy in an email asking for donations for his 2024 Senate campaign.

Below the subject line “Courtesy message: Your vehicle may be towed,” Rogers’s campaign wrote, “This is a courtesy message to let you know that your gas-powered vehicle will be ILLEGAL by the year 2030. And if the far-left bureaucrats get their way, they’ll ban far more than just your car.”

President Joe Biden signed an executive order in 2021 directing the country to reach net-zero emissions by 2050 and implementing 100% net-zero emissions in buildings by 2045 and 100% carbon pollution-free electricity by 2030. In April, the Biden administration revealed new stringent rules to accelerate the country’s transition to EVs further. Biden unveiled his goals of acquiring 100% light-duty ZEVs annually by 2027 and 100% medium- and heavy-duty ZEVs by 2035.

“They’re already coming for your gas stoves. Your car, your home, and even the food you eat could be on the chopping block if these bureaucrats have a say in the matter. Friend, in America, we don’t allow unelected bureaucrats to run our lives,” the email reads before asking recipients to chip in.

Rogers announced his 2024 Senate run in September in the battleground state of Michigan after serving in Congress for 14 years before deciding against a reelection bid in 2014. The Great Lakes Republican was chairman of the House Intelligence Committee during his last four years in office.

Rogers was recruited by the National Republican Senatorial Committee as a favorite to win Michigan’s open Senate seat after Sen. Debbie Stabenow (D-MI) announced earlier this year that she won’t seek reelection in 2024.
