Google has added features to its image search results intended to combat and help identify artificial intelligence-generated images and prevent them from fooling users.

The search engine will now mark all AI-generated images as such in order to ensure clarity for users, according to Bloomberg. The company has partnered with AI generators Midjourney and Shutterstock to ensure all images they produce are properly flagged.

Google will also add a new feature, called "about this image," which will provide additional context to an image with regard to when it was first indexed by the search engine. This feature will allow users to identify if an image is being reused or misused by someone to create a false impression. For example, the new search engine feature would allow a user to identify images of a riot or mob from the past and ensure they are not used to illustrate future activities.
