Lev Parnas, a former associate of Rudy Giuliani who was tasked with digging up dirt on now-President Joe Biden and his family’s connection to Ukraine ahead of the 2020 election, wrote to House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer (R-KY) urging him to drop his investigation into Hunter Biden.

In the 10-page letter, which was obtained by the Washington Examiner, Parnas said there is “simply no merit” in investigating the Bidens and their connection to Ukraine any further.

“Please abandon this effort to investigate the Bidens, which is nothing more than a wild goose chase, and let our elected officials return to the issue at hand of uniting our great country to be stronger and better than ever before,” Parnas wrote.

The odds of Comer dropping the investigation are slim to none.

“Once again, Democrats and their Corporate Media allies are ignoring independent facts about the Bidens, their shell companies, and allegations from IRS agents about the Department of Justice’s politicization of Biden investigation,” Comer said in a statement. “Bank records, the FBI’s Biden Bribery Record, and IRS whistleblowers have nothing to do with Rudy Giuliani. It’s past time for Democrats and their allies to stop covering for the Bidens and instead follow the facts.”

Parnas was heavily involved in Giuliani and former President Donald Trump’s effort to find dirt on the Bidens in Ukraine, including traveling there on a number of occasions and meeting with individuals who were known to be associates of Hunter Biden. He was sentenced to prison in 2022 for fraud and campaign finance crimes.

Their work in Ukraine to try and find dirt became the basis for Trump’s first impeachment after it was revealed that Trump threatened to withhold U.S. aid from Ukraine if it didn’t investigate his political rivals, including Biden.

Comer has alleged that Hunter Biden and then-Vice President Joe Biden were involved in a $5 million foreign bribery scheme with the head of Burisma, a Ukrainian energy company where Hunter Biden sat on the board. The claims come from an unverified FBI-generated FD-1023 tip sheet written by a paid FBI informant.

According to people who have viewed the document, it alleges that Mykola Zlochevsky, the head of Burisma, paid Hunter Biden and his father each $5 million to pressure the Ukrainian government to fire prosecutor Viktor Shokin, who was allegedly looking into Burisma.

But Parnas claims that these allegations aren’t true.

“Throughout all these months of work, the extensive campaigns and networking done by Trump allies and Giuliani associates, including the enormously thorough interviews and assignments that I undertook, there has never been any evidence that Hunter or Joe Biden committed any crimes related to Ukrainian politics,” Parnas said in the letter. “There has never been any factual evidence, only conspiracy theories spread by people who knew exactly what they were doing.”

While Biden has gone on the record bragging about how he pressured the Ukrainian government to fire Shokin, “Ukrainian investigations into the matter some years later concluded that Shokin had been terminated because of multiple cases of corruption while in office,” Parnas said in the letter.

Even after every stone they turned over showed no criminal wrongdoing, Parnas said Giuliani was adamant about finding some evidence of wrongdoing by the Bidens.

In June 2019, Giuliani tasked Parnas with getting Zlochevsky on the record about his relationship with the Bidens.

In response to one of the questions from Parnas, Zlochevsky said, “No one from Burisma ever had any contacts with VP Biden or people working for him during Hunter Biden’s engagement.”

This aggravated Giuliani, who, according to Parnas, said, “What is this sh**? This is bullsh**. Make sure nobody sees this. Bury this.”

The transcript of Zlochevsky’s answers was released last month by House Oversight Ranking Member Jamie Raskin (D-MD). The statements by Zlochevsky and the letter from Parnas contradict the message Comer has been trying to send regarding Hunter Biden and his father’s foreign business dealings in Ukraine.

Parnas also offered to testify under oath before the Oversight Committee and “answer any questions that you might have, or provide you with any texts or correspondence in these situations.”

A committee spokesperson told the Washington Examiner that they are currently unsure if they received the letter from Parnas.
