Gov. Gavin Newsom‘s (D-CA) new podcast is the unofficial start of his campaign for president in 2028, and he is beginning the run pretending he has moderated on transgender matters.
Newsom acknowledged that males playing in female sports is “deeply unfair” in a discussion with conservative activist Charlie Kirk. This alone is a violation of the Left’s sacred sacrament of “thou shall not ever acknowledge any negative consequences of the transgender movement.” California Democrats are already throwing a tantrum over this, saying they are “profoundly sickened” by Newsom’s dalliance with the dark side of “conservative talking points.”

Newsom then pivoted to the tactic he plans to use in future discussions about this matter, which is blaming restrictions on male athletes playing in female sports for transgender children killing themselves.
“There’s also a humility and a grace that these poor people are more likely to commit suicide, have anxiety, depression, and the way that people talk down to vulnerable communities is an issue,” Newsom said.
Therefore, if you want female sports to be for females and vocalize that thought, or even if you acknowledge the reality that you cannot change your gender, you are contributing to transgender suicide attempts.
This kind of emotional manipulation is designed to make the conversation about how “unfair” Newsom’s position on males in female sports seem trivial by comparison. It doesn’t matter that multiple long-term studies have shown that “affirmation” does not decrease suicidality among transgender people. Newsom is going to use his supposed “empathy” to push the exact same policies transgender activists that he has been pushing.
In California, that includes letting males compete against females in sports, which is what Newsom is defending while offering empty words about how “unfair” he thinks it is. It also includes schools hiding information from parents when their children identify as the opposite gender at school, with Newsom’s top education official threatening consequences for school boards who think parents should be informed of something such as this involving their own children. California, of course, allows children to permanently damage their bodies based on the claim that they are the opposite gender, pumping them full of irreversible hormones and preparing them for sex changes as soon as possible.
Newsom doesn’t know how to run a state but apparently knows how to read a poll. That is why he is trying to sound more centrist on a matter on which 80% of the country is against him and the Democratic Party. However, Newsom has shown his cards on this matter, and no attempt to soften the rhetoric of the transgender movement should change the reality of what Newsom is supporting and what he has imposed on the state of California.
