The national average price for a gallon of regular-grade gas on Tuesday is $3.478, which is below Monday's price of $3.494. The price was $3.545 a week ago, according to AAA.

The average price for a gallon of regular-grade gas in Virginia is $3.283, which is below Monday's $3.291 price. Last week, the price was $3.338.
Washington, D.C.
The average price for a gallon of regular-grade gas in Washington, D.C., is $3.673, just below Monday's price of $3.704. The price one week ago was $3.701.
California
The average price for a gallon of regular-grade gas in California dropped to $5.266. On Monday, the price was $5.291. Last week, it was $5.416.
New York
In New York, the average price is $3.739, just below Monday's $3.743 price. Last week, the average price was $3.776.
