As the 2024 presidential election approaches, the economy is on voters' minds, and the prices at the pumps could play a major role in determining the next president of the United States.

The national average price for a gallon of regular-grade gas on Thursday is $3.835, just above Wednesday's price of $3.832. The price was $3.867 a week ago, according to AAA.

The average price for a gallon of regular-grade gas in Maryland is $3.554, below Wednesday's price of $3.574. One week ago, the price was $3.675.

Virginia

The average price for a gallon of regular-grade gas in Virginia is $3.550, below Wednesday's $3.558 price. Last week, the price was $3.588.

Washington, D.C.

The average price for a gallon of regular-grade gas in Washington, D.C., is $3.912, beneath Wednesday's price of $3.924. The price one week ago was $3.909.

California

The average price for a gallon of regular-grade gas in California has risen above $6 on Thursday to $6.032, well up from Wednesday's price of $5.890. Last week, the price was $5.792.

New York

In New York, the average price is $3.905, just below Wednesday's $3.909 price. Last week, the average price was $3.926.
