As the 2024 presidential election approaches, the economy is on voters' minds. And the price at the pumps is one of the most direct pieces of evidence as to how the economy is faring.

The national average price for a gallon of regular-grade gas on Wednesday is $3.848, above yesterday's price of $3.836. The price was $3.803 a week ago, according to AAA.

Maryland
The average price for a gallon of regular-grade gas in Maryland is $3.668, above Tuesday's price of $3.646. One week ago, the price was $3.612.
Virginia
The average price for a gallon of regular-grade gas in Virginia has risen to $3.578, above Tuesday's $3.566 price. Last week, the price was $3.580.
Washington, D.C.
The average price for a gallon of regular-grade gas in Washington, D.C., is up Wednesday at $3.896. Tuesday's price was $3.890; last week, it was $3.911.
California
The average price for a gallon of regular-grade gas in California is up on Wednesday at $5.484, above Tuesday's price of $5.464. Last week, the price was $5.347.
New York
In New York, the average price is $3.903, above Tuesday's price of $3.898. Last week, the average price was $3.889.

Texas
The average price in Texas on Wednesday is $3.405, above Tuesday's price of $3.381. Last week, it was $3.370.
