As the 2024 presidential election approaches, the economy is on voters' minds. And the price at the pumps is one of the most direct pieces of evidence as to how the economy is faring.

The national average price for a gallon of regular-grade gas on Tuesday is $3.836, 4 cents more than the day before. The price was $3.811 a week ago, according to AAA.

The average price for a gallon of regular-grade gas in Maryland is $3.646, above Monday's price of $3.636. One week ago, the price was $3.621.
Virginia
The average price for a gallon of regular-grade gas in Virginia has risen to $3.566, above yesterday's 3.564 price. Last week, the price was $3.587.
Washington, D.C.
The average price for a gallon of regular-grade gas in Washington, D.C., is down Tuesday at $3.890. Tuesday's price was $3.902; last week, it was $3.910.
California
The average price for a gallon of regular-grade gas in California is up again Tuesday at $5.464, above Monday's price of $5.439. Last week, the price was $5.326.
New York
In New York, the average price is $3.898, above yesterday's price of $3.885. Last week, the average price was $3.890.
