Gas prices remain high, causing a problem for a Biden administration focused on emphasizing its positive economic impacts.

As the 2024 presidential election approaches, the economy is on voters' minds. And the price at the pumps is one of the most direct pieces of evidence as to how the economy is faring.

The national average price for a gallon of regular-grade gas on Thursday is $3.825, just below Wednesday's price of $3.827. The price was $3.837 a week ago, according to AAA.

Maryland

The average price for a gallon of regular-grade gas in Maryland is $3.679, below Wednesday's price of $3.693. One week ago, the price was $3.776.

Virginia

The average price for a gallon of regular-grade gas in Virginia has dropped to $3.610, below Wednesday's $3.615 price. Last week, the price was $3.649.

Washington, D.C.

The average price for a gallon of regular-grade gas in Washington, D.C., is down Thursday at $3.965. Wednesday's price was $3.972, and last week, it was $3.990.

California

The average price for a gallon of regular-grade gas in California remains startlingly high at $5.296, 2 cents up from Wednesday. Last week, the price was $5.260.

New York

In New York, the average price is $3.901, 5 cents less than it was on Wednesday. Last week, the price was $3.912.
