As the 2024 presidential election slowly comes clearer into view, the economy will be on the minds of most, if not all, voters. The price at the pumps is one of the most direct and day-to-day pieces of evidence as to how the economy is faring.

The national average price for a gallon of regular-grade gas on Tuesday is $3.862, above Monday's price of $3.851. The price was $3.824 a week ago, according to AAA.

Maryland
The average price for a gallon of regular-grade gas in Maryland is $3.800, above Monday's $3.796 price. One week ago, the price stood at $3.792.
Virginia
The average price for a gallon of regular-grade gas in Virginia is slightly down to $3.664, 2 cents less than Monday's price. This time last week, it was $3.669.
Washington, D.C.
The average price for a gallon of regular-grade gas in Washington, D.C., is slightly down on Tuesday at $4.015. On Monday, it was $4.018, and last week, it was $3.945.
California
The average price for a gallon of regular-grade gas in California continues to climb and is significantly above the national average at $5.168. On Monday, the price was $5.151, and one week ago, it was $5.075.
New York
In New York, the average price is $3.921, 6 cents more than on Monday. Last week, it was $3.901.
