Gas prices continue their upward trajectory this summer.

As the 2024 presidential election slowly comes clearer into view, the economy will be on the minds of most, if not all, voters. The price at the pumps is one of the most direct and day-to-day pieces of evidence as to how the economy is faring.

INFLATION TICKED UP TO 3.2% IN JULY IN SETBACK FOR BIDEN AND FED

The national average price for a gallon of regular-grade gas on Friday is $3.841, above Thursday's price of $3.828. The price was $3.831 a week ago, according to AAA.

Maryland

The average price for a gallon of regular-grade gas in Maryland has stayed consistent this week around Friday's price of $3.789. On Thursday, and this time last week, it was $3.791.

Virginia

The average price for a gallon of regular-grade gas in Virginia is $3.665, above Thursday's price of $3.661. This time last week, it was $3.668.

Washington, D.C.

The average price for a gallon of regular-grade gas in Washington, D.C., has shot up again, this time to $4.007 from Thursday's price of $3.983. Last week, it was $3.943.

California

The average price for a gallon of regular-grade gas in California continues to climb and is significantly above the national average at $5.110. On Thursday, the price was $5.090, and one week ago, it was $5.047.

New York

In New York, the average price is $3.905, 5 cents more than on Thursday. Last week, it was $3.899.
