As the 2024 presidential election slowly comes clearer into view, the economy will be on the minds of most, if not all, voters. The price at the pumps is one of the most direct and day-to-day pieces of evidence as to how the economy is faring.

The national average price for a gallon of regular-grade gas on Thursday is $3.828, just slightly above Wednesday's price of $3.825. The price was $3.821 a week ago, according to AAA.

Maryland
The average price for a gallon of regular-grade gas in Maryland has stayed consistent at $3.791, the same price as Wednesday and this time last week.
Virginia
The average price for a gallon of regular-grade gas in Virginia is $3.661, beneath Wednesday's $3.664. This time last week, it was $3.656.
Washington, D.C.
The average price for a gallon of regular-grade gas in Washington, D.C., has shot up again, this time to $3.983 from Wednesday's price of $3.955. Last week, it was $3.950.
California
The average price for a gallon of regular-grade gas in California continues to climb and is significantly above the national average at $5.090. On Wednesday, the price was $5.080, and one week ago, it was $5.037.
New York
In New York, the average price is $3.900, 1 cent less than on Wednesday. Last week, it was $3.888.

The average price in Texas keeps declining, and as of Thursday, sits at $3.450. On Wednesday, the price was $3.458, and last week, it was $3.494.
