


Gas prices hit a nine-month high on Wednesday, and they are showing no sign of slowing down.
As the 2024 presidential election slowly comes clearer into view, the economy will be on the minds of most, if not all, voters. The price at the pumps is one of the most direct and day-to-day pieces of evidence as to how the economy is faring.
THE MIXED MESSAGES OF BIDENOMICS
The national average price for a gallon of regular-grade gas on Thursday is $3.821, up from $3.803 on Wednesday and $3.714 a week ago, according to AAA.

Maryland
The average price for a gallon of regular-grade gas in Maryland is $3.791, up from $3.778 on Wednesday. One week ago, the price was $3.697.
Virginia
The average price for a gallon of regular-grade gas in Virginia is $3.656. On Wednesday, the price was $3.642, and this time last week, it was much lower at $3.522.
Washington, D.C.
The average price for a gallon of regular-grade gas in Washington, D.C., is $3.950, up from $3.940 on Wednesday. Last week, it was much lower at $3.837.
California
The average price for a gallon of regular-grade gas in California is significantly above the national average and has skyrocketed to $5.037. On Wednesday, the price was $5.025, and one week ago, it was $4.935.
New York
In New York, the average price is $3.888, up from $3.868 on Wednesday. Last week, it was much lower at $3.771.

The average price in Texas is rising quickly but continues to sit below the national average at $3.494. On Wednesday, the price was $3.483, and last week, it was $3.395.
