The fluctuation of gas prices from day to day is a reality most people are forced to deal with.

As the 2024 presidential election slowly comes clearer into view, the economy will be on the minds of most, if not all, voters. The price at the pumps is one of the most direct and day-to-day pieces of evidence as to how the economy is faring.

The national average price for a gallon of regular-grade gas on Wednesday is $3.556, down from $3.564 on Tuesday and $3.581 a week ago, according to AAA.

Maryland

The average price for a gallon of regular-grade gas in Maryland is $3.450, down from $3.460 the day before. One week ago, the price was $3.472.

Virginia

The average price for a gallon of regular-grade gas in Virginia is $3.306, solidly below the national average. The price was $3.314 on Tuesday and $3.347 last week at this time.

Washington, D.C.

The average price for a gallon of regular-grade gas in Washington, D.C., is $3.715, higher than the national average. On Tuesday, it was $3.733, and one week ago, it was $3.738.

California

The average price for a gallon of regular-grade gas in California is well above the national average at $4.830. Yesterday, it was $4.836, and one week ago, it was $4.863.

New York

In New York, the average price is $3.691, two cents higher than Tuesday. Last week, it was $3.697.
