The fluctuation of gas prices from day to day is a reality most people are forced to deal with.

As the 2024 presidential election slowly comes clearer into view, the economy will be on the mind of most, if not all, voters. The price at the pumps is one of the most direct and day-to-day pieces of evidence as to how the economy is faring.

The national average price for a gallon of regular-grade gas on Monday is $3.564, down from $3.573 on Monday and $3.577 a week ago, according to AAA.

Maryland

The average price for a gallon of regular-grade gas in Maryland is $3.460, down from $3.466 the day before. One week ago, the price was $3.456.

Virginia

The average price for a gallon of regular-grade gas in Virginia is $3.314, solidly below the national average. The price was $3.325 on Monday and $3.346 last week at this time.

Washington, D.C.

The average price for a gallon of regular-grade gas in Washington, D.C., is $3.733, higher than the national average. On Monday, it was $3.734, and one week ago, it was $3.730.

California

The average price for a gallon of regular-grade gas in California is well above the national average at $4.836, seven cents less than on Monday. One week ago, it was $4.868.

New York

In New York, the average price is $3.693, the same price as Monday. Last week, it was $3.692.
