The fluctuation of gas prices is something most households are forced to deal with.

As the 2024 presidential election slowly comes clearer into view, the economy will be on the mind of most, if not all, voters. The price at the pumps is one of the most direct and day-to-day pieces of evidence as to how the economy is faring.

The national average for a gallon of regular-grade gas on Tuesday is $3.577, down from $3.578 on Monday and from $3.592 a week ago, according to AAA.

Maryland

The average price for a gallon of regular-grade gas in Maryland is $3.456, up from $3.447 yesterday. One week ago, the price was $3.446.

Virginia

The average price for a gallon of regular-grade gas in Virginia is $3.346, below the national average. The price was $3.348 on Monday and $3.326 last week at this time.

Washington, D.C.

The average price for a gallon of regular-grade gas in Washington, D.C., is $3.730, higher than the national average. Yesterday, it was $3.714, and one week ago, it was $3.669.

California

The average price for a gallon of regular-grade gas in California is well above the national average at $4.868, one cent less than Monday. One week ago, it was $4.897.

New York

In New York, the average price is $3.692, compared with $3.690 on Monday. Last week, it was $3.693.
