


Gas prices increased for the first time in weeks on Wednesday. The average price in the nation for a gallon of regular-grade gasoline is $3.454, according to AAA.
This was slightly more expensive than Tuesday’s average price of $3.441. It marks the first time since Memorial Day that the country’s average gas price has increased.
California remains the state with the most expensive gas prices, at $4.888 for a gallon of regular-grade gasoline on Wednesday. Mississippi is still the state with the cheapest gas in the nation, at $2.938 for a gallon on Wednesday.
Gas prices are less expensive than in June 2023, when a gallon of regular gas costs $3.594.

Here are the gas prices for a gallon of regular-grade gas in and around Washington, D.C., and a few other states.
Unlike the national average increase, gas prices in Washington, D.C. continued to drop.
Wednesday’s price for regular gas in the nation’s capital is $3.676 per gallon. This is a slight decrease from Tuesday’s price of $3.678. It is also cheaper for gas in Washington, D.C. than it was a week ago when the price was $3.695 for a gallon of regular-grade gasoline. A month ago, gas cost $3.731.
The price in Maryland for a gallon of regular-grade gas also decreased on Wednesday, coming in at $3.519 on Wednesday. This is a decrease from yesterday’s price of $3.526 per gallon. A week ago, gas cost $3.597 per gallon. A month ago, people in Maryland paid $3.579 per gallon for regular gas. Wednesday’s gas prices are more expensive than a year ago, however, when gas was $3.434 per gallon.
The average price for a gallon of regular-grade gas in Virginia on Wednesday is $3.325. This is a decrease from yesterday’s average price of $3.333 per gallon. A week ago, regular-grade gas was $3.402 per gallon in Virginia and a month ago, gas was $3.444 for a gallon of regular. Gas prices remain more expensive in the state than last year when the cost of regular-grade gas was $3.302 per gallon.
The average price for a gallon of regular gas in Delaware on Wednesday is $3.417. This is slightly cheaper than Tuesday’s price when gas cost $3.424. It is also less expensive for a gallon of regular-grade gas now than it was a month ago, when gas cost $3.492 per gallon.
In Florida, a gallon of regular-grade gas is $3.280 on Wednesday. This is a decrease from yesterday’s price of $3.282 per gallon. A week ago, gas cost $3.389 per gallon. A month ago, people in Florida paid $3.451 per gallon for regular gas. Wednesday’s gas prices are less expensive than a year ago, however, when gas was $3.469 per gallon.
The average price for a gallon of regular gas in Maine on Wednesday is $3.443. This is slightly cheaper than Tuesday’s price when gas cost $3.448. It is also now less expensive for a gallon of regular-grade gas than it was a month ago, when gas cost $3.611 per gallon.
