Americans experienced some relief at the pumps this weekend as the average price for a gallon of regular gas slightly decreased over Memorial Day Weekend.

As of Tuesday, the average price for a gallon of regular gas, according to AAA, is $3.592. This figure, a slight decrease from Monday’s average of $3.593, indicates a continuing trend of fluctuating gas prices.

However, gas prices are still more expensive than this time last week. Last Tuesday, the average cost for a gallon of regular gas was $3.598.

Yet, despite this increase and fluctuating prices within the last week, gas prices are still less expensive than they were a month ago. According to AAA, the average cost for a gallon of regular gas 30 days ago was $3.659.

California has the highest gas prices in the country, with an average price for regular-grade gas of $5.12 per gallon. Mississippi is the state with the least expensive gas, at $3.037 per gallon.
