Gas prices decreased again on Tuesday, with prices for a gallon of regular-grade gas at $3.441. This marks a slight decrease from Monday, when the cost was $3.445 per gallon, and Sunday, when a gallon of regular-grade gasoline was $3.449. Gas is also cheaper than a week ago when regular-grade gasoline cost $3.518 per gallon. A month ago, a gallon of regular gas was $3.626.

Mississippi is still the state with the cheapest gas in the nation, with a gallon of regular-grade gas costing $2.94. California remains the state with the most expensive gas prices, at $4.907 for a gallon of regular-grade gasoline. 

Gas prices are less expensive than June 2023 when a gallon of regular gas cost $3.590.

Here are the gas prices for a gallon of regular-grade gas in and around Washington, D.C., and a few other states. 

On Tuesday, regular gas costs $3.678 per gallon in the nation’s capital. This is a slight decrease from Monday’s price of $3.683. It is also cheaper for gas in Washington, D.C. than a week ago when the price was $3.70 for a gallon of regular-grade gasoline. A month ago, gas cost $3.732.

In Maryland, a gallon of regular-grade gas is $3.526 on Tuesday. This is a decrease from yesterday’s price of $3.530 per gallon. A week ago, gas cost $3.604 per gallon. A month ago, people in Maryland paid $3.586 per gallon for regular gas. Tuesday’s gas prices are more expensive than a year ago, however, when gas was $3.434 per gallon.

The average price for a gallon of regular-grade gas in Virginia on Tuesday is $3.333. This is a decrease from yesterday’s average price of $3.342 per gallon. A month ago, regular-grade gas was $3.414 per gallon in Virginia and a month ago, gas was $3.452 for a gallon of regular. Gas prices remain more expensive in the state than last year when the cost of regular-grade gas was $3.302 per gallon.

The average price for a gallon of regular gas in Delaware on Tuesday is $3.424. This is slightly cheaper than Monday’s price when gas cost $3.427. It is also less expensive for a gallon of regular-grade gas now than it was a month ago, when gas cost $3.495 per gallon.

Arkansas is the state with the second-cheapest gas in the nation with a gallon of regular-grade gas costing $2.961 on Tuesday. This is slightly cheaper than yesterday’s price of $2.966. A week ago, gas was over $3 a gallon in Arkansas, with the average price for a gallon of regular-grade gas coming in at $3.021. A month ago gas was $3.136.
