


Gas prices on Wednesday decreased again as the price for a gallon of regular-grade gasoline hit $3.503 per gallon.
This was slightly cheaper than Tuesday’s price of $3.518 per gallon, according to AAA. It continues the trend of falling gas prices that started before Memorial Day weekend.
Wednesday’s price for gasoline is cheaper than last week at this time, when gas was $3.575 per gallon. It is also cheaper than it was a month ago, when gas prices were soaring and at $3.653 per gallon.
The recent downward trend has helped gas prices become less expensive than they were a year ago at this time, when a gallon of regular-grade gasoline cost $3.552.
Mississippi became the first state in the country on Wednesday to have its average price for a gallon of regular-grade gasoline drop to under $3 a gallon. A gallon of gas in the state now costs $2.996. Yesterday, it was $3.007 per gallon, the same price it was on Monday.
Arkansas is the state with the next cheapest gas prices, coming in at $3.014 per gallon on Wednesday.
California remains the state with the most expensive gas with a gallon of regular gas costing $5.002 per gallon on Wednesday. This was a slight decrease from yesterday’s price of $5.025 per gallon. It is also cheaper than a week ago when the average price was $5.104. At this current rate of decreasing prices, gas in California will be under $5 before the end of the week.
Interestingly enough, while gas prices on average are lower now than at this time in 2023, both Mississippi and California are more expensive.

Here are the gas prices for a gallon of regular-grade gas in and around Washington, D.C., and a few other states.
It costs $3.695 per gallon for regular gas on Wednesday in the nation’s capital. While this is more expensive than the average price of regular gas in the country, it does represent a drop from yesterday and the first time gas has been under $3.70 per gallon in quite some time. A month ago, gas in D.C. was $3.740 per gallon. Gas prices still remain more expensive now than a year ago when a gallon of regular gas cost $3.643.
The average price for a gallon of regular-grade gas in Virginia on Wednesday is $3.402. This is a decrease from yesterday’s average price of $3.414 per gallon. Both prices were less expensive than a week ago when prices stood at $3.454 per gallon. A month ago, regular-grade gas was $3.471 per gallon in Virginia. Gas prices remain more expensive in the state than last year when the cost of regular-grade gas was $3.317 per gallon.
In Maryland, a gallon of regular-grade gas is $3.597 on Wednesday. This is a decrease from yesterday’s price of $3.604 per gallon. A month ago, people in Maryland paid $3.668 per gallon for regular gas.
The average price for a gallon of regular gas on Wednesday is $3.472 in Delaware. This is slightly cheaper than Tuesday’s prices, in which gas costs $3.479 per gallon. This is also cheaper than when gas prices were $3.536 per gallon a week ago. A month ago, people in Delaware paid $3.587 per gallon for regular gas.

Gas prices in Pennsylvania continue to be more expensive than the national average. On Wednesday, it cost $3.712 for a gallon of regular-grade gas in the Keystone State. This was lower than Tuesday’s price of $3.721 per gallon. A week ago, gas was $3.759 per gallon. Last month, regular gas cost $3.806 per gallon.
The Garden State had its primary elections on Tuesday. The day after, gas prices dropped slightly, falling to $3.46 per gallon for regular-grade gas on Wednesday. This was a slight decrease from the day before when gas prices stood at $3.469 per gallon. A week ago, gas was $3.496 per gallon and a month ago, it was $3.620.
