


Americans continue to experience relief at the pumps as gas prices decreased yet again on Monday.
The average price for a gallon of regular-grade gasoline dropped to $3.532 on Monday, according to AAA. This was slightly cheaper than Sunday’s price of $3.536 per gallon. It marks over a week of declining gasoline prices, a trend that started before Memorial Day weekend.
Monday’s price was a drop from a month ago, when regular gas cost $3.667 per gallon, and from over a year ago, when gas prices were $3.558 for a gallon of regular gas.
Mississippi is still the state with the cheapest regular-grade gas prices in the nation, at $3.007 per gallon, with Arkansas not very far behind at $3.030. Mississippi’s price was a slight decrease compared to a week ago when the average cost for a gallon of regular gas was $3.037. A month ago, a gallon of regular gas cost Mississippians $3.124. However, gas prices are more expensive today than they were a year ago in Mississippi, when prices stood at $2.971 per gallon.
California remains the state with the most expensive gas, with a gallon of regular gas costing $5.044 per gallon. This was a slight decrease from Sunday’s price of $5.050 per gallon. It is also cheaper than a week ago when the average price was $5.120 for a gallon of regular gas. However, just like in Mississippi, these prices are more expensive today than at this point in 2023, when a gallon of regular-grade gas in California costs $4.865.

Here are the gas prices for a gallon of regular-grade gas in and around Washington, D.C., and a few other states.
The average price for a gallon of regular-grade gas in the nation’s capital continues to be more expensive than the average price in the country, with a gallon of regular gas costing $3.709 on Monday. Prices continue to head in the wrong direction in Washington, D.C., as that price was more expensive than Sunday’s when gas was $3.707. A week ago, gas was $3.706.
In Maryland, a gallon of regular-grade gas is $3.610. This is a decrease from Sunday’s gas costs of $3.615 per gallon. Monday’s price for regular gas in Maryland is also lower than what it was this time last week when gas cost $3.671 per gallon. A month ago, people in Maryland paid $3.677 per gallon for regular gas.
The average price for a gallon of regular-grade gas in Virginia on Monday is $3.422. This is a decrease from Sunday’s average price of $3.428 per gallon. Both prices were less expensive than a week ago when prices stood at $3.463 per gallon. A month ago, regular-grade gas was $3.48 per gallon in Virginia.
The average price for a gallon of regular gas in Delaware on Monday was $3.482, the same as it was on Sunday. Both prices are cheaper than a week ago, when gas prices stood at $3.531. A month ago, people in Delaware paid $3.595 per gallon for regular gas.
A gallon of regular-grade gas in Pennsylvania on Monday cost $3.729. This was a decrease from Sunday’s pricing of $3.731. It was also a decrease from a week ago when regular gas was $3.767 per gallon. A month ago in Pennsylvania, gas cost $3.810 per gallon.
Colorado is a popular summer vacation destination for Americans. And, if one vacations in the state, they will find gas prices cheaper than the national average. A gallon of regular-grade gas in Colorado cost $3.337 on Monday. This was a drop from Sunday’s price of $3.341. However, a week ago, gas in the Rocky Mountain State was less expensive than on Monday, when it was priced at $3.282 per gallon. Prices are also more expensive than a month ago, when gas in Colorado was $3.248 per gallon.
