


Gas prices increased for the second straight day on Thursday.
The average price in the country for a gallon of regular-grade gasoline is $3.46, according to AAA. This is slightly more expensive than on Wednesday when prices stood at $3.454 per gallon. Both prices are higher than Tuesday when the price of a gallon of regular gas was $3.441. It is the first time gas prices have increased on consecutive days since before Memorial Day weekend.
California still has the most expensive gas prices, coming in at $4.872 for a gallon of regular-grade gasoline on Thursday. Mississippi is still the state with the cheapest gas in the nation, with Thursday’s price for a gallon of regular-grade gas costing $2.939. Incidentally, California’s price decreased from Wednesday, while Mississippi’s price increased.
Gas prices are less expensive than in June 2023, when a gallon of regular gas was $3.592.

Here are the gas prices for a gallon of regular-grade gas in and around Washington, D.C., and a few other states.
On Thursday, regular gas costs $3.669 per gallon in the nation’s capital. This is a slight decrease from Wednesday’s price of $3.676. It is also cheaper for gas in Washington, D.C. than it was a week ago when the price was $3.688 for a gallon of regular-grade gasoline. A month ago, gas cost $3.733.
The average price for a gallon of regular-grade gas in Virginia on Thursday is $3.344. This is an increase from yesterday’s average price of $3.325 per gallon. A week ago, regular-grade gas was $3.387 per gallon in Virginia and a month ago, it was $3.443.
In Maryland, a gallon of regular-grade gas is $3.543 on Thursday. This is an increase from yesterday’s price of $3.519 per gallon. Gas prices are cheaper in Maryland than what they were a week ago when gas cost $3.572 per gallon. A month ago, people in Maryland paid $3.576 per gallon for regular gas. Thursday’s gas prices are more expensive than a year ago, however, when gas was $3.446 per gallon.

The average price for a gallon of regular gas in Delaware on Thursday is $3.462. This is slightly cheaper than Wednesday’s price when gas cost $3.417. It is also less expensive for a gallon of regular-grade gas now than it was a month ago, when gas cost $3.494 per gallon.
In Florida, a gallon of regular gas $3.274 on Thursday. This was a slight decrease from Wednesday’s price of $3.28 per gallon. A week ago a gallon of regular-grade gas cost $3.362 and a month ago it was $3.44.
