Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard said over the weekend that the “deep state” is working against the Trump administration, vowing that she and others in leadership positions are pushing back against this resistance.

Gabbard’s comments come as the administration’s mass deportation operation has faced numerous legal setbacks, with the most recent one ordering it to halt immigration stops and arrests in seven California counties. The director suggested the next steps the administration takes “will not be easy,” saying she could attest from her work that opposition from the so-called deep state is embedded in every federal agency.

“And so I feel the same frustration that I see many of you expressing on X or in different platforms about, ‘Why aren’t things going faster, why aren’t we getting results more quickly?’” Gabbard said at a Turning Point USA summit on Saturday night.

“I feel this frustration every single day. We are pushing hard, know that they are pushing hard back,” Gabbard said.

Gabbard also previewed new documents the Trump administration will declassify, one of which is a memo issued within the Biden administration on what to look for in identifying “domestic violent extremists.” She explained that included among these identifications were people complaining about COVID-19 mandates, as well as parents concerned about their children getting the COVID-19 vaccine at school “against their parents’ wishes.”

“People who were expressing anti-authority views. I could go on in this list of people, groups, thoughts, free speech, they were labeled as domestic violent extremists, and then used that label to go and then force these tech companies — some of them were willing, some unwilling — to censor Americans’ free speech in the name of going after domestic violent extremists,” Gabbard said.

PATEL DENIES REPORTS OF HIS IMMINENT DEPARTURE FROM FBI

Gabbard said the “tactics” of the “deep state” must be exposed to ensure similar actions are not taken in the future.

Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem said Sunday the administration will appeal the order to halt immigration stops and actions in various locations in California, saying it is “wrong.” She also said that “dignity” is lacking among the judicial branch as the administration has faced numerous nationwide injunctions.
