Fulton County prosecutors recently requested an interview with Christina Bobb, an attorney for former President Donald Trump.

The request comes as the prosecutors build their case against the former president and his allies over efforts to overturn the 2020 election.

Criminal defense attorney John Lauro is representing Bobb. He confirmed to ABC News that prosecutors from District Attorney Fani Willis's office called him last week. He said they were requesting a meeting with Bobb following the submission of a grand jury's report indicating there is evidence warranting criminal charges for at least one witness. Reports say the office is considering conspiracy and racketeering charges.

The news comes the same day that legal counsel for Trump filed to quash the final report from the grand jury, hoping to prevent the district attorney's office from using any information gathered during the jury's proceedings and keep the office from pursuing charges.

Lauro said the prosecutors did not specify what information they were hoping to receive from speaking to Bobb, adding that they "knew nothing about any role that Christina Bobb had, since she had nothing to do with Georgia."

Bobb plans to deny the interview request, Lauro said. It is unclear if prosecutors would move to subpoena her if that happens.

"They had a year and a half of investigating and never once reached out to Christina Bobb," Lauro said. "It was one of the more strange conversations I've had."

Bobb is also one of three people at the focus of both Justice Department special counsel investigations. Her role in the batches of classified documents discovered at Trump's Mar-a-Lago home in August is under scrutiny after she signed a sworn statement in June that all documents were handed over to the government.

At the time of the grand jury report's release, it noted that a majority of the grand jury believed at least one of the over 75 witnesses who testified in the investigation committed perjury or lied under oath. Some of the witnesses include former Trump attorneys Rudy Giuliani and John Eastman, along with lawmakers, including Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC), who unsuccessfully fought his subpoena up to the Supreme Court.

Willis said charges against witnesses are "imminent." She said last summer that she is a "fan of RICO," a term referencing the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act, arguing it is a "tool that allows a prosecutor’s office and law enforcement to tell the whole story.”

Willis began her investigation into alleged election interference days after a recording was posted of a January 2021 phone call between Trump and Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger. In the call, Trump can be heard urging Raffensperger to “find” enough votes to overturn his defeat in Georgia.

Other areas of focus for the special grand jury include the formation of a so-called alternate slate of GOP electors who met at the Georgia Capitol in December 2020. They apparently signed certificates stating that Trump had won the Georgia general election.
