NextImg:Four years ago, Biden was ‘concerned’ about last-minute presidential pardons - Washington Examiner

By now, you’ve probably heard about former President Joe Biden’s pardons during the last hours of his presidency. The 46th president granted pardons to family members and political allies, including notable figures Dr. Anthony Fauci, retired Gen. Mark Milley, and Jan. 6 committee members. However, you probably didn’t know that in December 2020, Biden expressed concerns about then-President Donald Trump doing the very thing Biden did in January 2025. Furthermore, Biden stated that Trump’s hypothetical pardons would set a bad precedent and tarnish the image of the United States.

“It concerns me in terms of what kind of precedent it sets and how the rest of the world looks [at] us as a nation of laws and justice,” Biden said during an interview with CNN’s Jake Tapper.

Despite this glaring hypocrisy — a moment that, to his credit, Tapper posted on his X account on Monday — Biden’s statement about these “concerns” was largely ignored by legacy media, political pundits, left-wing politicos, and Democratic politicians. Had this been Trump, it probably would have resulted in some congressional investigation or manufactured social outrage. But for Biden, nothing; it was business as usual.

Biden’s statement was a textbook example of the dishonest and, more importantly, disingenuous affections that Biden regularly deployed to manipulate millions of voters in this country. Publicly, he came off as a dignified statesman who was sincere and trustworthy with only the country’s best interests in mind. However, privately, he was a snake in the grass, an unscrupulous politician with narcissistic qualities who used performative politics, emotional manipulation, and hyperbolic hysteria to advance political narratives and accomplish his agendas. It was simultaneously brilliant and terrifying.

Ultimately, the former president’s hypocritical views on pardon were just another chapter in the Biden political production company’s performative hysteria predicated on repeatedly telling the public bald-faced lies and hypocritical statements. Biden was a deceitful and manipulative opportunist who clearly embraced the philosophy of “pardons for me but not for thee.”

The chronic cover-up of his decadeslong history of unethical actions and corruption is arguably one of the greatest scandals in the nation’s history. Biden ascended to the presidency in January 2021 after winning the November 2020 election. Yet his apparatchiks from the fourth estate followed him into power, crafting political messages and agendas that subliminally influenced voters in the country while hiding Biden’s vulnerabilities, hypocrisies, double standards, and generally biased-driven political maneuvers.

As president, Biden benefitted from an agenda-driven, corrupt legacy media that regularly hid his abuse of power and shielded him from legitimate criticisms. This is why he was allowed to get away with such despicable acts as last-minute pardons. He has been wholly unethical for decades but managed to play the nice guy schtick for political gain, all the while deceiving millions of people in the country.

Now that he is out of office and no longer in the public eye, there should be much scrutiny of how the media handled his presidency. It cannot happen again. Because in the end, Biden showed he was the kind of politician and ruler that the Founding Fathers distinctly opposed and repeatedly warned against.
