Kate Bedingfield, formerly the White House communications director, has been hired by CNN as a political commentator.

Bedingfield had served as director since President Joe Biden was inaugurated and held other communication roles during President Barrack Obama's administration. She left the position in February of this year and was replaced by Ben LaBolt, who was the head of communications surrounding Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson's nomination to the Supreme Court.

SOCIAL SECURITY UPDATE: DIRECT PAYMENT WORTH UP TO $4,555 GOES OUT TO MILLIONS IN FIVE DAYS

CNN announced Bedingfield was the network's newest "on-air political commentator" on Friday. This comes as the network has revised its schedule, placing Kaitlan Collins in the vacant 9 p.m. slot that had been left empty since former anchor Chris Cuomo was terminated by the network in December 2021. Its morning show, previously featuring Collins, Poppy Harlow, and Don Lemon, who has since left the network, now features Harlow as the lone anchor. The company also fired its CEO Chris Licht.

This is the second member of the Biden administration's communications team to leave for a job in television news, as former White House press secretary Jen Psaki now hosts her own show on MSNBC. She left the White House in May of last year.
