Former Texas GOP Rep. Will Hurd predicted that age will play a major factor in a potential rematch between President Joe Biden and former President Donald Trump in 2024.
Speaking with host Martha Raddatz on ABC’s This Week on Sunday, Hurd expressed his belief that in a presidential rematch between Trump, 76, and Biden, 80, age will be a factor that plagues them both. Due to the focus on Biden's age, Hurd brought attention to Trump's age as well, arguing it would be just as major of a factor in his campaign.

"Unfortunately, whether we like it or not, age is going to be a factor in this campaign because, guess what, Donald Trump's no spring chicken either," Hurd continued. "And so this is something that both candidates are gonna have to deal with through their primaries and President Biden in the general election."
The former Texas representative also said that "no one" wants to see a rematch between Biden and Trump, with age playing a part in people's calculation.
"Well, Joe Biden is operating as if Donald Trump is going to be the nominee, and his future success depends on Donald Trump being the nominee. When you have seven out of 10 Americans that doesn't want to see Joe Biden run for reelection, and six out of 10 Americans not wanting to see Donald Trump run as well. This is a potential rematch in 2024 that nobody wants to see," said Hurd.

The subject of Biden's age particularly has come under scrutiny in light of his official reelection bid. If he were to win, he would be 86 by the end of his second term.
Hurd, who is 45, has been the subject of 2024 speculation himself, with some speculating that he could throw his hat in as a centrist Republican candidate.
