NextImg:Ford EV truck lasts almost 25% fewer miles when loaded with cargo

The Ford F-150 Lightning performed worse when carrying cargo.

AAA put the electric truck to the test, loading the bed with 1,400 pounds of sandbags, which is nearly its maximum capacity. While the F-150's range is typically 278 miles, this time, the loaded EV got to 210 miles, almost a 25% drop.
WHY THE UFO WHISTLEBLOWERS ARE GETTING A MIXED REACTION

“Most buyers will likely use their Lightning with a lighter load, resulting in a much smaller range reduction," AAA Automotive Engineering Director Greg Brannon said.

Gas-powered equivalents could have a range of up to 500 miles, according to AAA.

The Environmental Protection Agency also overestimated the electric truck's range by over 7%, which made its loaded reports off by 30%. AAA admitted it was "unclear" why the EPA's report differed from its own.

Ford's regular F-150 has a starting price of $34,445, while the Lightning starts at $54,974.

Electric vehicle sales rose by 65% in 2022, which also increased the percentage of electric vehicle registrations to 6% out of total registrations. Meanwhile, total car sales decreased for the first time since 2011.
