The Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program will send the second round of payments to Utah residents for August in one day. Residents who receive help with groceries will see their direct SNAP payments, worth up to $1,330, by Friday.

Utah sends out benefits on three dates throughout the month, Aug. 5, 11, and 15, and beneficiaries get their payments based on the first letter of an individual's last name.

SOCIAL SECURITY UPDATE: DIRECT PAYMENT WORTH UP TO $4,555 GOES OUT TO MILLIONS IN SIX DAYS

Payments are released based on the following schedule:

The amount of SNAP benefits recipients will be sent depends on multiple factors, such as the size of a household, income limits, and other additional assets.

The maximum SNAP benefits for a household of one is $281, and for a household of three, the maximum increases to $740. The maximum amount listed is $1,330, and that is for a household of six.

Utah households must be at or below 130% of the federal poverty line. For a household of one, the gross monthly income limit is $1,473. For three, the income limit is $2,495, and for a household of six, the limit is $4,029.

SNAP benefits are loaded onto an electronic benefit transfer card used to purchase eligible food items, similar to debit cards in participating stores. Eligible food includes items like bread, fruits, vegetables, meats, fish and poultry, seeds, plants to grow food, and dairy items. Alcohol, pet food, and cleaning supplies are excluded from the program.

In Utah, around 5% of the population, or 156,300 people, receive food stamps. Those interested in applying can do so through the Utah portal called myCase. Residents can also apply at an employment center or mail an application.
