


Residents enrolled in the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program in Maine will begin to see their monthly benefits sent out to them Thursday, and distribution will last for the next four days.
The food stamps program in the Pine Tree State sends out benefits to those in the program from the 10th through the 14th of every month. For this month, all beneficiaries will receive their payments by Aug. 14.

Food stamps are sent out to eligible recipients in Maine based on the beneficiary's date of birth. Those born on days ending in 0 or 9 received their benefits Thursday.
As for the rest of the beneficiaries, those born on days ending in 1 or 8 will see their benefits on Aug. 11, those born on days ending in 2 or 3 will get their benefits on Aug. 12, those born on days ending in 4 or 7 will receive their benefits on Aug. 13, and people born on days ending in 5 or 6 will see their monthly benefits on Aug. 14.
Benefits are loaded onto EBT cards for recipients and may be used to purchase groceries and seeds at eligible stores.

To receive benefits from the food stamp program, applicants must meet income requirements based on household size. A person may make a maximum annual income of $26,973 for a single-person household or $65,009 for a household of five. The maximum income requirements for different household sizes vary.
In the Pine Tree State, the food stamps program sends out different payment amounts depending on a variety of factors, but the average benefit per household is $168 per month. More information on eligible items is available on the state's website.
