


Maine residents enrolled in the state's food stamps program will start to see their monthly payments for August beginning in one day.
Benefits from the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program in the Pine Tree State are sent to beneficiaries from the 10th through the 14th of each month. For August, payments will be loaded onto recipients' EBT cards beginning on Aug. 10.

Food stamps are sent out to eligible recipients in Maine based on the beneficiary's date of birth.
Those born on days ending in zero or nine will get their benefits on Aug. 10, and those born on days ending in one or eight will see their benefits on Aug. 11. Those born on days ending in two or three will get their benefits on Aug. 12, and those born on days ending in four or seven will receive their benefits on Aug. 13. People born on days ending in five or six will see their monthly benefits on Aug. 14.
The SNAP program sends out different payment amounts depending on a variety of factors, but the average benefit per household in the state is $168 per month. An estimated 161,800 people are on the food stamps program in the Pine Tree State.

EBT cards with SNAP benefits may be used by recipients to purchase groceries and seeds. Further information on eligible items is available on the state's SNAP website.
Qualifications for the food stamps program vary by household size. A person may make a maximum annual income of $26,973 for a household of one or $65,009 for a household of five. The maximum income requirements vary for other household sizes and can be found on the state's website.
