


Families and individuals across Georgia can expect to receive their payment from the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program for August in three days.
SNAP is distributed through the Georgia Department of Human Resources, and benefits are issued from Aug. 5 to Aug. 23, hitting recipients' accounts based on the last two digits of a beneficiary's client IDs.

Those with client IDs ending in 00-09 receive their benefits on the fifth, client IDs ending in 10-19 receive their benefits on the seventh, and the rollout continues until the 23rd, when client IDs ending in 90-99 will receive their benefits.
Payment amounts Georgia SNAP users will be given depend on variables such as assets, household size, and income. For a household of one, the maximum annual income is $18,954, and for a household of five, the maximum annual income is $45,682.
The average benefit payment per household member in Georgia is $188. The maximum benefit a household of four can get is $939, and for each additional member after eight, the program adds $211.
Around 15% of Georgia's population receives benefits for food via SNAP. The number of SNAP recipients in Georgia is approximately 1.6 million, according to the Center on Budget and Policy Priorities.

Benefits can be used to purchase eligible food items at participating grocery or convenience stores through an electronic benefit transfer card, which is used similarly to a debit card.
