Florida households who have not received payments from the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program can expect to collect their money over the next four days before the program wraps up for August.
SNAP benefits are issued to participating households in Florida from the 1st to the 28th of every month. Around 2.85 million people (or 13% of Florida's population) receive food stamps. The average payment per household member per month is $180.

Floridians typically receive their payments on the same day each month, with the exact date depending on particular digits in a household's case number.
To qualify for SNAP, Sunshine State residents need to have a gross monthly income that is less than or equal to 200% of the federal poverty level.
Once approved, households whose case number digits are 00 to 03 will receive their payments on the first of the month, while recipients who get their payments from the second to the 27th of a month are in groups of three. Households whose digits are 04 to 06 get their benefits on the second of the month, and those whose digits are 93 to 95 receive their payment on the 27th. Beneficiaries whose digits are 96 to 99 get their money on the 28th.
The maximum payment is $281 for a household of one, $740 for a household of three, and $1,116 for a household of five. An additional $211 is included for each household member over eight.

Food stamps in Florida can be used for "breads, cereals, fruits, vegetables, meats, fish, poultry, dairy, and plants and seeds to grow food for your household to eat," according to the state. It cannot be used to purchase items such as alcoholic beverages, tobacco, prepared foods, or pet foods.
