NextImg:Food stamps: Direct SNAP payment for August worth up to $2,145 to arrive in Alaska in two days

All households eligible for the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program in Alaska will receive their payments in two days.

Alaska is one of four states that send out payments to every SNAP-participating household regardless of case number or last name on August 1. The other states that also send out all payments on the first of the month are North Dakota, Rhode Island, and Vermont.

For the Last Frontier state, eligible households are split into three regions. Each region, two rural and one urban, produces a different maximum monthly payment.

In the "Rural I" region, the maximum payment for a household of one is $293. A household of four can receive up to $979, and up to $1,762 for a household of eight. For each additional person, a maximum of $220 is added to the payment.

For "Rural II" households, maximum payments are $357 for one, $1,191 for four, and $2,145 for eight members, with $268 added for each additional member.

Eligible households living in the "Urban" region will receive a maximum payment of $230 for a household of one, $767 for a household of four, and $1,382 for a household of eight. After eight, the program adds a maximum of $173 for each additional member.

In Alaska, around 92,100 people receive food stamps. This makes up about 12% of the population. The average payment per Alaskan household member per month is $271
