Delaware's Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program will begin August payments, worth up to $1,691, in eight days.

SNAP payments begin distribution on the second day of each month in Delaware. The amount received depends on recipients' household size — single households receive $281, while eight-member households receive $1,691, according to Delaware.gov. For each additional person, $211 can be added.

The First State sports one of the longest windows for issuing payments in the United States, taking up over three-quarters of the month. The first letter of a recipient's last name determines on which of the 22 days they will receive their payment. The next cycle of payments will begin next week.

A household's gross monthly income cannot exceed 200% of the federal poverty level to qualify for payments. A single household cannot make more than $2,266 monthly, while an eight-person household cannot make more than $7,772.

Children 21 years and younger must apply with their parents.

Like most other states, Delaware SNAP payments are loaded onto an EBT card, and no additional action is required. The card can be used like a credit card, but only for food and nonalcoholic drinks. The funds cannot be used on alcohol and other luxuries.

The funds delivered each month will hold over into the next. The funds remain on the card without expiring as long as the card remains in regular use.

SNAP is active across all states and Washington, D.C., with some differences between each.
