California food stamps, also known as CalFresh under the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, will finish distributing benefits in two days for November.

SNAP began issuing payments on the 1st of the month, and payments end on Nov. 10. Payments will be distributed to qualified low-income households depending on the recipient's case number.

For example, if a case number ends in one, California recipients can expect to see their CalFresh benefits on Nov. 1. If a case number ends in two, SNAP benefits will be available on Nov. 2. The payment dates continue until Nov. 10, when those with a case number ending in zero will receive their payment.

The amount of benefits an eligible household receives depends on multiple factors, including household size, income limits, and additional assets. Most California households with a monthly gross income at or below 130% of the federal poverty level will qualify for SNAP. The maximum payment is $291 for a household of one, $973 for a household of four, and $1,751 for a household of eight. Up to $219 is added to a household's food stamps for each member after eight.

CalFresh benefits are loaded onto an electronic benefits transfer card every month, and recipients can use the card at grocery stores to purchase eligible products such as fruits, vegetables, bread, meat and poultry, and drinks. Recipients are barred from using SNAP benefits for products such as pet food, alcohol, and household items such as paper and soap.

Around 13% of California's population receives SNAP, amounting to nearly 5 million Californians each month, according to 2022 data from the Center on Budget and Policy Priorities. More information on how to apply for SNAP or monitor CalFresh benefits is available at the government portal, or people can call 1-877-847-3663.
