


The food stamps program in Maine has distributed all payments to eligible residents for the month of August. The final round of payments was sent on Monday.
The Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program in the Pine Tree State sends out payment to beneficiaries from the 10th through 14th of each month, and the benefits are loaded onto Maine EBT cards

The benefits for the program are sent out based on a person’s date of birth. Those born on days ending in 0 or 9 received their benefits on Aug. 10, and those born on days ending in 1 or 8 received their benefits on Aug. 11. Those born on days ending in 2 or 3 received their benefits on Aug. 12, those born on days ending in 4 or 7 received their benefits on Aug. 13, and those born on days ending in 5 or 6 saw their monthly benefits on Aug. 14, which concluded benefit distribution for August.
Now that the final wave of benefits has been sent out, the next round of payments for the food stamp program in Maine will begin on Sept. 10.
Food stamps may be used to buy groceries and seeds with an EBT card, but they may not be used for prepared meals.

In Maine, the average monthly benefit per household is $168, but the amount can vary depending on several factors. The state says that 12% of the population in the Pine Tree State is enrolled in the food stamps program.
To qualify for SNAP benefits in Maine, a person may make a maximum annual income of $26,973 for a household of one or $65,009 for a household of five in the state.
