All people who receive food stamps in Florida will receive their monthly benefits within the next two days.
The Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program in the Sunshine State, which provides assistance to low-income citizens in purchasing food, distributes benefits from the 1st through the 28th of every month, meaning payments in July will be sent to all beneficiaries of the food stamps program by July 28.

State officials said SNAP benefits may be used to purchase “breads, cereals, fruits, vegetables, meats, fish, poultry, dairy, and plants and seeds to grow food for your household to eat.” Ineligible items for the food stamp program include "pet foods, soaps, paper products, household supplies, grooming items, alcoholic beverages, tobacco, vitamins, medicines, food to eat in the store, or hot foods.”
Food stamps are issued by using a formula using certain digits in a person’s case number. The formula in Florida involves taking the ninth digit followed by the eighth digit of a person's case number to create a two-digit number, which identifies when someone receives their benefits. If a recipient's ninth digit is 9 and the eighth digit is 8, then the number for this formula would be 98.
Those who have case numbers in which this combination is 00-03 will receive their benefits on the 1st of a month. Those who receive their benefits from the 2nd through the 27th of the month are in groups of three, beginning with 04-06 for the 2nd and ending with 93-95 for the 27th. Those whose ninth and eighth digits are 96-99 receive their benefits on the 28th.

EBT, or electronic benefit transfer, cards are where benefits are loaded for people in the program so that they may use their monthly payments for eligible items at grocery stores or other stores. For SNAP in the Sunshine State, the average benefit payment per household member is $180, with approximately 2.85 million people, or roughly 13% of the state's population, receiving assistance paying for food.
