A new fire broke out in Hollywood Hills, prompting an evacuation order for the historic Hollywood entertainment district.
The wildfires are already the most destructive fire in Los Angeles history, having killed at least five people and lit ablaze over 1,000 structures. Shortly after sundown, a blaze suddenly erupted in Runyon Canyon, roughly 1 mile from the famous Hollywood sign. By 6:30 p.m. local time, fire officials estimated that at least 20 acres of the Runyon Canyon area had been engulfed.

“A Mandatory Evacuation Order is now in place for Laurel Canyon Blvd (on the west) to Mulholland Dr (on the north) to 101 Freeway (on the east) down to Hollywood Blvd (on the south),” the Los Angeles Fire Department said in an alert.
ABC7 helicopter reporter Chris Cristi reported that the blaze was spreading “RAPIDLY” toward Hollywood Boulevard.
Shortly after, video showed the blaze nearly a half mile from Hollywood Boulevard, with high winds carrying it closer.
