Sen. John Fetterman (D-PA) slammed House Speaker Emerita Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) for her comments suggesting President Joe Biden has not yet decided whether to remain in the presidential race.
“As far as I know, [Pelosi’s] never run for any office outside of the House, and she’s never run for the president, and she’s certainly never won that,” Fetterman said in a CNN interview Wednesday.
“He has already made his decision. Joe Biden has made that decision,” he continued. “He is staying in this race, and he’s going to take this through to the convention and to November, and I’m going to back him on that.”
“I have his back, 100%,” the Pennsylvania Democrat added.
Fetterman’s comments come after Pelosi failed to endorse fully Biden’s presidential run on MSNBC’s Morning Joe on Wednesday.
“It’s up to the president to decide if he is going to run. We’re all encouraging him to make that decision because time is running out,” Pelosi said. “He is beloved, he is respected, and people want him to make that decision.”
Biden has already said he is “firmly committed” to staying in the race in a letter to congressional Democrats on Monday.
Elected Democrats have continued to cast doubt on his presidential campaign, with Sen. Peter Welch (D-VT) becoming the first Democratic senator to call on him to step aside on Wednesday.

It’s not just elected officials who want the president to drop out of the race: 56% of Democrats say he should end his reelection campaign, according to a new Washington Post-ABC News-Ipsos poll.
The poll found Biden and former President Donald Trump tied for the popular vote, each with 46% support among registered voters.
