A father in Minnesota is accused of using a moose antler to beat an elderly man convicted of child sexual assault to death after the parent felt he had stalked his young daughter.
Levi Axtell, 27, was charged Friday with second-degree murder relating to the Wednesday death of 72-year-old Lawrence Scully, according to a report.

Axtell allegedly used a moose antler and a shovel to beat Scully, who was convicted of sexually assaulting a 6-year-old girl in 1979, before driving to the Cook County Sheriff's Office and confessing to killing him.
He said he believed Scully had stalked children, including his 22-month-old daughter, in 2018 at a daycare center from a van, according to the report.
Axtell petitioned for a protection order, which was awarded before being dismissed weeks later, the report noted.
When he arrived at the sheriff's office, Axtell had blood on his clothes, and he "put his hands on his head and said that he had murdered [Scully] with a shovel," a criminal complaint read.
According to the complaint, authorities discovered Scully inside his residence "obviously dead from the serious nature of his head wounds."
Axtell had struck him up to 20 times with the shovel before he "finished him off" with the antler, he reportedly told authorities.
Axtell believed Scully "to have sexually offended against children in the past. [Axtell] said he had observed [Scully] parked in the vehicle at locations where children were present and believed he would re-offend," the complaint read.
Recent allegations had also been levied against Scully, the report noted.

The father has no significant criminal history, and his ties to the community do not make him a major flight risk, Axtell's attorney Dennis Shaw said at a hearing.
Axtell's next court appearance is slated for April 10.
