


At least nine people were shot, three of whom died, in Farmington, New Mexico, on Monday.
Police responded to the shooting, and the suspect was killed on the scene. Two officers sustained gunshot wounds.

“The suspect’s identity is unknown, and there are no other known threats at this time,” Farmington police said on Facebook.
Around 12:30 p.m. local time, Farmington police officers responded to an active shooter at the intersection of Apache Street and Orchard Avenue. Schools were locked down citywide.
Shortly after, the Phoenix Field Division of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives said it was investigating the shooting.
Farmington school lockdowns were lifted around 1 p.m. Police confirmed three civilians were killed out of nine who were shot, and two police officers who were shot were being treated for their injuries.
One officer is from the Farmington Police Department, and the other reports to the New Mexico State Police.

Around 2 p.m., police said on Facebook there was no presumed second suspect in the shooting.
Police held a press conference later in the afternoon, confirming that the shooter was 18. Police said they are still trying to determine if the suspect was a local in the neighborhood or if he had a history of criminal activity.
