Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis believes the racketeering case involving former President Donald Trump will go through 2025, meaning it would stretch past next year's Election Day.
Willis said on Tuesday that she predicts the trial on racketeering charges over Trump and his alleged co-conspirators' attempts to overturn the 2020 election will take "many months."

“I believe in that case there will be a trial. I believe the trial will take many months. And I don’t expect that we will conclude until the winter or the very early part of 2025,” Willis said at the Washington Post's Global Women’s Summit.
When asked if that could mean there will be aspects of the trial going on during the heat of campaign season, Election Day, or even Inauguration Day, Willis said she doesn't consider those factors when she is bringing a case to trial.
"I don't, when making decisions about cases to bring, consider an election cycle or an election season. It does not go in the calculus. What goes into the calculus is: This is the law, these are the facts, and if the facts show you violated the law, then charges are brought. I have heard that — what you are getting at — going around," Willis said.
She then stated that it is "foolishness" to believe someone running for office should have criminal investigations dropped because it could get in the way of their campaign.
"It would be a really sad day if when you're under investigation for this shoplifting charge, you could go run for city council, and then the investigation would stop," she added. "That's foolishness, and it's foolishness at any level."

Trump and 18 others were indicted on racketeering charges in Fulton County in August, with Willis accusing them of trying to "seize" a presidential term by attempting to overturn the results of the 2020 election. The former president pleaded not guilty, while four of the charged people have accepted plea deals.
The former president has pushed for a trial date after the 2024 election, while prosecutors in the Peach State are seeking to have the trial held as soon as possible. Trump is currently the front-runner in the Republican presidential primary and has polled on pace or ahead of President Joe Biden in hypothetical general election matchups.
