The family of a black student at a northern Virginia middle school is seeking $10 million after they claim their child was forced to play a game about picking cotton.

Sidney Rousey is reportedly the only black student in his French class at Gunston Middle School in Arlington, where he is in the eighth grade. Back in Feburary, he felt pressured to play an in-class game that involved picking cotton with his face. Later, the school isolated him from the rest of the French class, according to his family’s attorney Justin Fairfax. On Wednesday, Fairfax helped the Rousey family write and file a demand letter over the incident.

Gunston Middle School has not apologized, according to the Rousey family. The school did not respond to the Washington Examiner's request for comment.

“What is a situation that looks like this worth? A situation you can’t take back, that you can’t fix. You tell me," Keisha Kirkland said in a television interview. "It’s not about the money. It’s about what’s right. It’s about what you [the school] didn’t do. It’s about accountability.”

Per the demand letter, the school has 30 days to respond before the family plans to file a lawsuit.
