A security dog reportedly warned authorities of possible explosives inside a vehicle at a Department of Energy checkpoint in Germantown, Maryland, officials said Thursday morning, according to a local outlet.

The Montgomery County Department of Police warned there would be "significant" delays due to an investigation by Federal Protective Services, but the entrance was reopened at 11 a.m. EST, after authorities investigated the car. An investigation into what the dog was reacting to is still ongoing off-site.

“The vehicle has been searched and cleared. So far nothing found," an unidentified official told ABC News. "We are in the process of packing up and going home. We will be working with the owner of the vehicle to try and figure out why the dogs alerted, but for now we are done.”

The Montgomery County Fire Rescue Service bomb squad responded to assist with the situation, which occurred after the security dog flagged a gray Subaru. It is not clear how many dogs were involved. No explosives have been found, and no injuries have been reported from the incident.
