As a jury in New York City deliberates his father’s fate, Eric Trump harshly criticized the handling of former President Donald Trump’s hush money trial, claiming the judge in the case is being one-sided against his father.

The presumptive Republican presidential nominee is fighting 34 felony counts for allegedly falsifying business records over hush money payments to porn star Stormy Daniels, with a decision from Judge Juan Merchan potentially being given any day now. Trump’s son claimed that “no one believes” the charges that his father is facing, partly due to how Trump is the presumptive presidential nominee for the Republican Party.

“No one believes it, and then you have this judge, and I’ve watched the conduct and Sean, you have to watch it from the front row, from front and center, so many of the Fox reporters have,” Trump said on Fox News’s Hannity. “When you’re in there and he is literally sustaining every single one of their objections, he will not give us a single thing. He’s disqualifying our witnesses, he’s not letting the head of the NBC testify that there is no crime here, he’s not letting Costello speak, not letting him get a single word out. He’s saying that my father testifies, they can go back to every single thing he’s ever said or ever done, even if it’s not related to this case. The thing is stacked, Sean, you’ve never seen anything like it.”

Trump then pointed to how Merchan has donated to Democratic causes, and that the judge’s daughter reportedly has fundraised for similar causes. He also questioned why his father’s legal battles are taking place in places like Fulton County and Manhattan, claiming that it is likely due to how they are “as far left” as can be.

The former president’s son then argued that the major focus on Trump’s trial stems from how Trump is leading President Joe Biden in various polls, adding that the Democratic Party is “panicking” because they know Biden “will not make it to the finish line.”

“And so what do they do?” Trump asked. “They weaponize the legal system against Donald Trump as they’ve done every day since he’s come down that escalator. And honestly, it’s frustrating as a son to watch him go through this hell and this torture, and the guy is incredible and honestly, kudos to him, no one else could deal with this crap. No one.”

Closing arguments in Trump’s hush money trial ended on Tuesday, with Trump’s team centering its final statement to the jury on undermining the credibility of former Trump attorney Michael Cohen, the prosecution’s star witness. The prosecution, meanwhile, has sought to portray Trump’s alleged actions as a massive conspiracy that may just have decided the fate of the 2016 election.

Tuesday also saw the Biden campaign host a press conference outside the Manhattan courthouse with Robert De Niro, who warned that Trump was a danger to both the United States and the world. The former president has rebutted the actor’s comments, calling him a “wacko” on social media.
