NextImg:Equal pay? Why don’t women just join the NBA? - Washington Examiner

The ridiculous “equal pay” debate about the WNBA coming from some Democrats raises an awkward question when it comes to their view of transgenderism: If men and women are indistinguishable and the WNBA doesn’t pay enough, why don’t women’s basketball players join the NBA instead?

President Joe Biden is among those who waded into the uneducated “equal pay” whining about Caitlin Clark’s rookie contract. “Women in sports continue to push new boundaries and inspire us all,” Biden posted. “But right now we’re seeing that even if you’re the best, women are not paid their fair share. It’s time that we give our daughters the same opportunities as our sons and ensure women are paid what they deserve.”

The issue here, of course, is that neither Biden, members of his Cabinet, nor his judicial nominees can answer what they think a woman is. In the view of Biden and Democratic politicians, there are no differences between men and women, and men can be women or women can be men just by saying that they are. It is the Biden administration’s position that there are no problems with male athletes competing against female athletes or changing alongside them in the locker room. If you were to ask an average Democratic politician, you would be told that your gender is whatever you “identify” as.

That logic necessitates that you argue that there are no differences between men and women and that you can change from one to the other simply by saying so. By that logic, then, if the WNBA does not pay women’s basketball players enough, and there are no differences between men and women, why don’t women’s players join the NBA to cash in on those multimillion-dollar contracts?

The answer, of course, is that men and women are not the same. That is evidenced by even watching women’s basketball, where the players are far shorter on average than on the men’s side, are slower, and don’t jump as high. Clark would not make a men’s roster in college, let alone the NBA, because no woman would make a men’s roster in college or the NBA. This is not a knock on the women’s game, which is great in its own right, but this is to say that it is different.

Again, someone who believes that men can be women and women can be men with no changes just because they say so cannot explain why there are no women in the NBA chasing bigger salaries. Biden’s “fair share” talking point is already economically illiterate, but his anti-science embrace of transgenderism makes it wildly incoherent.
