British singer Elton John blasted "disgraceful" laws in the United States that are stymieing the reach and influence of the LGBT community in schools and healthcare.

"It's all going pear-shaped in America," the Grammy Award winner and outspoken member of the LGBT community said, according to reports.

"We seem to be going backwards. And that spreads. It's like a virus that the LGBTQ+ movement is suffering," he said.

The laws passed in Florida, including those permitting doctors to deny care based on their personal morals, banning preferred pronouns in public schools, and prohibiting gender transition-related procedures for minors, are especially "disgraceful," according to the 76-year-old John.

"It's a growing swell of anger and homophobia that's around America," the singer said.

John's comments come during the final leg of his Farewell Yellow Brick Road Tour, a report noted.

The tour marks John's adieu before he leaves the spotlight to enjoy time with his family.

Stockholm will be the tour's final stop on Monday, according to the report.

John is eager to "be with his real family, not his work family," he said.
