NextImg:‘Elite’ colleges are molding a new generation of hateful people - Washington Examiner

Supposedly “elite” universities are helping create a new, hateful generation of people following the oppressor-oppressed narratives these universities promote.

Jewish students at Columbia University are now being provided with security to reach the university’s center for Jewish student life. Hundreds of antisemitic students have been arrested after a “pro-Palestinian” (always read as pro-terrorist) encampment popped up, with antisemitic students threatening and assaulting Jewish students while cheering for terrorism. Jewish students are even being advised to stay home to keep them away from the roving mobs of antisemitic students.

Columbia is not a one-off, either. The same is happening at Yale University. Antisemites at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology have also set up an encampment. The University of California, Berkeley, and the University of Michigan are also among those with rampant antisemitic demonstrations from students. The Department of Education keeps adding schools to its list of investigations for antisemitism, a list that now includes more than half of Ivy League members.

These universities are either feigning outrage over these protests or are simply run by people who are too foolish to understand that their ideology is what created this environment. These universities have embraced the “diversity, equity, and inclusion” ideology that colors the world through “oppressors” and “oppressed.” That worldview places Palestinian terrorists firmly in the perennially “oppressed” category. Those Palestinian terrorists hate all Jewish people, regardless of whether they live in Israel or not. Therefore, the student activists embrace their antisemitic hatred and fly off the handle at any visible expression of Jewishness.

To use Columbia as an example, the university has a Center for Palestine Studies, which lists 26 faculty on its staff page. Columbia employs people such as Mohamed Abdou, a visiting scholar who said on social media, “Yes, I’m with Hamas and Hezbollah and Islamic Jihad.” (He teaches the completely necessary class on “Decolonial-Queerness & Abolition”). Professors bringing their antisemitic hatred of Israel into the classroom has been a problem at Columbia going back to at least 2004. Columbia has fostered the very environment that leads to antisemitic students thinking they have a right, and even a moral obligation, to harass Jewish students.

These universities are helping to mold the next generation of Americans into hateful antisemites and racists, urging them to view the world through these oppressor-oppressed narratives based on people’s skin colors or, in these cases, people’s Palestinian or Jewish identities. The common throughline with these protests and antisemitic threats is that they are occurring on college campuses and being perpetrated by college students. The universities bear a lot of responsibility for encouraging this behavior and fostering these environments.
