


An elderly man in New York City shot and killed a man during an armed robbery attempt Wednesday, authorities said.
The shooting occurred at about 2 a.m. in Queens when the 65-year-old man was approached by a younger man armed with an "unknown object," according to a report citing the New York Police Department.
As the two encountered each other near Queens Boulevard in Kew Gardens, the younger man, identified as a 32-year-old, attempted to rob the elderly man, police said.
During the exchange, the 65-year-old brandished a firearm and shot the armed robber multiple times.
The 32-year-old was declared dead by emergency officials who arrived on the scene, the report noted.

The names of the people involved in the shooting have not been released.
The elderly man was taken in for questioning by authorities, but no charges against him have been confirmed.
